Beit Avinoam
Avinoam David Cohen was born in Jerusalem, and left our world during an operational activity in the Golan Heights, at the age of 22, on Friday, 6 in Tishrei 2018. One year after his death, his brother, Itamar, decided to establish in Elon Moreh a “Warm Place’ for IDF soldiers who protect the settlement of Elon Moreh, where Avinoam studied. The Warm Place was built by Itamar with the support of “Shifra – Simply Love” and with the help of the association’s friends from the USA, and it is operated by the Cohen family and the Elon Moreh community.
Beit Avinoam serves as a resting and refreshing spot for the fighters serving in the area, and is open for them 24/7. Alon Moreh’s women are partners in operating the place and preparing cakes and pastries for the IDF soldiers.
About Avinoam z”l
A little about Avinoam Z"L
Avinoam, who aspired to do the best on all levels, worked hard to do so – in elementary school, high school where he stood out for his radiant and pleasant personality and at the Yeshivat Eshtamoa where he devoted his time to learning the Torah and virtues and was one of the leading and prominent students. Avinoam managed to overcome and conquer the goals he set for himself, including fulfilling his dream of studying at Yeshivat Elon Moreh where he continued to build his spiritual self and from there he set out to fulfill the mitzvah “save Israel from its enemies” by serving in the IDF. Avinoam David, who was like King David – “Adino Haezni” – gentle in morals and fearful of God, but also hard as a cedar in perseverance and stubbornness, was one of the leading soldiers in the Artillery Corps, and took a course for commanders and officers on the recommendation of his commanders. Avinoam did not complete the officers course but wished to express the tools he learned, and in the last months of his life he commanded an artillery team.
